In his opening speech, TOBB Board Member İbrahim Burkay stated that the recycling sector holds a strategic position in Türkiye’s green transformation process and emphasized that the Council’s visibility and effectiveness among public institutions has increased. He also stressed that the work to be carried out with the relevant ministries on green transformation and zero waste in industry will continue to be on the Council’s agenda in the coming period.
Speaking at the opening, TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç emphasized that the recycling industry is a strategic field covering many sub-sectors and interacting directly with all branches of industry. Kıvanç stated that the issue of recycling facilities being located in Organized Industrial Zones was particularly prominent on the Parliament’s agenda throughout 2025 and provided information about the work carried out through the OIZ Sub-Commission established for this purpose.
TOBB Vice Chairman Ender Yorgancılar emphasized in his speech that the recycling sector holds a strategic position in terms of Türkiye’s economic transformation and competitiveness. Yorgancılar stated that the National Waste Management Strategy and Plan and the National Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan published by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change have ushered in a new era for the sector, drawing attention to the importance of all sector stakeholders taking these roadmaps into consideration. Furthermore, he stated that TÜİK waste statistics reveal the size and responsibility of the sector, emphasizing the importance of collective wisdom that contributes effectively to policy processes.
In the first part of the meeting, potential collaborations with the Anatolia Recycling Specialized Industrial Zone (OIZ) Entrepreneurs Committee were evaluated. This was followed by an exchange of views on the “Draft Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on the Control of End-of-Life Vehicles.”
Later in the meeting, the Assembly’s work throughout 2025 was evaluated in broad terms, and expectations and priorities for 2026 were discussed.
In addition, the Assembly’s potential contributions to the preparations for the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 31), to be held in Türkiye in 2026, were discussed.
