Visit to TOBB by FAO Türkiye Office

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Türkiye Office visited the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) to discuss cooperation opportunities on the sustainability of geographically marked products, environmental sensitivity in agriculture, food waste and food-related waste.​

The FAO delegation included Program Coordinator Özcan Türkoğlu, Program Support Specialist Ali Ağören, Communication Specialists Şafak Toros and Emre Akyüz. On behalf of TOBB, Advisor to the President Dr. Hasan Çağlayan Dündar, Head of Real Sector R&D and Implementation Department Mustafa Kemal Günay, SME Policies Manager Cahit Ceren and SME Policies Specialist - Lawyer Aslı Parmak attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the importance of geographically marked products not only in terms of economic but also environmental and social sustainability was emphasized. Promoting good practices in agriculture, supporting local producers, reducing food waste and awareness-raising projects on waste management were among the prominent topics.

The ongoing cooperation between FAO and TOBB is expected to deepen in the coming period with concrete projects and multi-stakeholder approaches.
